Our certificated teacher training courses for Developmental Baby Massage are enjoyed by health visitors, nursery nurses, midwives, massage and many other therapists working with mothers and babies. These teacher training courses attract professionals from all around the world; where we support the parent-child relationship and the well-being of mothers and babies from conception to childhood. We teach massage and movement to mothers and babies, with a focus on unique techniques for mothers with babies with developmental delays.

Developmental Baby Massage Teacher Training Course

This course covers the six key aspects of Developmental Baby Massage and provides an unparalleled educational experience for professionals that are aiming to teach Developmental Baby Massage.

This teacher training course includes high-quality learning aids including filmed case studies and slides.

Upon successful completion of the course, all delegates will receive a certificate accredited by FEDANT. Plus, Video ‘Developmental Baby Massage’ – PowerPoint Developmental Baby Massage parts one and two. PowerPoint projection Locomotor milestones and enablement and session notes for parents.

This teacher training course was originally four days and university accredited. Now a two-day online/face-to-face intensive course, it covers the following 6 critical facets needed to practice Developmental Baby Massage in a professional and personal capacity

Peter Walker’s “Development Promotion Program” is a program sponsored by Japanese Maternal and Child Health Study Group under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare. A wonderful program that has been adopted by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s discipline project “Poshiamo”.

Course Includes;

Emotional Intelligence and a Loving Touch:

To teach:

Infant ‘Self Soothing’ from birth and secure the first two locomotor milestones for all babies.

Promoting overall good reciprocity to facilitate mother-infant bonding and attachment
and the same for fathers and partners.

Remedial touch techniques to relieve a difficult birth experience

Holding and stroking techniques prior to massage to relieve physiological flexion and abdominal tension and promote safe tummy time.

Techniques to maintain and improve newborn respiration.

Developmental Baby Massage 

To teach:

Massage – Techniques and strokes are demonstrated to parents using a teacher’s doll, with emphasis on loving touch, and responding to baby’s cues and communication.

Assessment and Remedial Touch

Infant Development – third major milestone and secure, joint flexibility, muscular strength, and coordination improving circulatory, and respiratory rhythms, back strength, and overall muscle tone.

The Enteric (“Baby Brain”) and the Central Nervous Systems.

Infant Balance and Good Posture

To teach:

Primary preparation for sitting and standing using gravity-assisted techniques for stronger structural foundations focusing on the transitions from sitting positions to standing.

Therapeutic Play to Relieve Stiffness and Floppyness

To teach:

Early intervention and enablement.

Motivation and movement.

Gravity and centralised movement.

Remedial touch, massage, and movement to relieve hyper and hypo-muscle tone.

Contra-Indications

To teach:

The guidelines for safe teaching including appropriate baby massage oils and their usage.

Convening and Teaching Your Groups

To teach:

How to convene both one-to-one and group sessions in a safe environment for babies, practitioners, and teachers.
